Freedom work with children and youth involves three dimensions
PREVENTION
Most of the energy needs to go here. So much lifelong damage can be completely avoided by taking assertive actions to get in front of a wreck before it does it's damage. Emerge sponsors innovative outreaches and prevention programs in centers through SE Asia.
RESCUE
Sometimes situations demand radical action to literally take young people out of the evil hands they've fallen into. Emerge partner ministries specialize in rescuing children from physical and sexual exploitation and in building legal cases for the prosecution of those who profit from their bondage.
EMPOWERMENT
This may be the most important work of all. Freedom is about building an overcoming life. Young leaders need the mindset of an overcomer and a mastery of skills that help them win at life. They need to know who they are in Christ and they need to embrace their own life's calling. Seeing rescued kids become rescuers is our ultimate vision.

Although Emerge maintains a legal and accounting office in the USA, we have always had our base of operations in SE Asia. For more than 30 years, this has allowed us to build a powerful coalition of vetted national partners who have a driving vision of hope for their own people. Because they are local they know what works.
BATANG SIDEWALK MINISTRIES
"Sidewalk" is an initiative targeting generational poverty in the lives of children being raised along rail and waterways in some of the toughest barrios of South Manila. This powerful outreach brings the power of the gospel, leadership training, and a scholarship program.
"Kids reaching kids" is the sidewalk secret power. Once a child makes the jump to becoming a mentor to younger kids, a whole new world opens up for them.
Each week Sidewalk teams reach 10,000 kids in 100 separate outreach sites. 100% of site leaders were, themselves, reached through the Sidewalk programs when they were children.
PROJECT JUSTICE INTERNATIONAL
PJI exists to address physical exploitation of children and youth as sex workers and bonded labor in Thailand and Laos.
Child trafficking is a complex issue. Tackling it requires a multi-faceted approach. The root causes must be addressed with even more energy if we would stop child slavery from spreading at its alarming current rate. Prevention. Protection. Justice. Restoration.
MEDIALIGHT
Medialight is our leadership training institute. Media is the most powerful global force shaping young lives today. The average teen engages in 9+ hours combined media time each day.
God is raising up a new generation of leaders with powerful communication skills. Through Medialight, leaders from over 40 nations are rising up as God's new messengers, bringing truth to their generation using modern tools of media.
